Why this matters
Your Event Section is the home for your event. It brings everything together, sessions, key information, and next steps, so students can plan, attend and return.
If this page is unclear or incomplete, students are less likely to build a plan or re-engage after the event.
Overview
Event Sections are dedicated landing pages for your events. They are standard sections with the Event type selected, which enables event-specific layouts and behaviour.
They contain your event information and display sessions using the Events layout, which behaves similarly to a Relevant Sessions block but with additional capabilities such as calendar and list views.
Each Event Section includes:
- A header with your title, description and dates
- A Featured Block for additional content
- A session grid (with optional calendar and list views)
You can also add additional content below the sessions using the page builder.
Steps
- Go to Sections in your CMS and click Add New (or edit an existing section)
- Enter your Title and Description. This appears in the event header and should clearly explain what the event is and what students can expect
- Set Section Type to Event. This unlocks event-specific settings
- Set your Start and End date. Both are required for the event to display. Dates are shown in full format (for example, "2nd December 2026")
- Set Visibility after Event End. This controls how long the event remains visible after it finishes. If left blank, the event will hide immediately when it ends
- Add a Short description for use in section cards
- Add a Featured image. This is used across the experience when linking to your event
- Configure the Featured Block. This appears alongside your header and can be one of:
- No additional content
- Location map
- Featured image
- Embedded post
- Custom HTML
- (Optional) Configure Adaptive post-event messaging. This replaces your description after the event ends with follow-up content or calls to action
- (Optional) Enable Page Builder to add additional content below your sessions
- Save and publish your section to staging
Featured Block
The Featured Block enhances your event header and can be used to:
- Show a map for on-campus events
- Add visual impact with an image
- Embed content such as videos or posts
- Add custom HTML such as forms or chat tools
This content sits alongside your event title and description, helping you provide more context without overwhelming the page.
Best practice
- Treat this as the single source of truth for your event
- Clearly explain what the event is and what students should do next
- Use the Featured Block to add useful context, not clutter
- Always set a visibility window if using post-event messaging
Important
- If you do not set Visibility after Event End, the section will hide immediately when the event ends
- Sessions displayed here are controlled by your Event Section layout and filters. See Assigning sessions so they appear in your experience for how sessions are surfaced
