Overview
The evt query parameter lets you temporarily control whether sessions are shown across your Vepple experience without needing to update anything in the CMS. This is especially useful for when you don't normally want sessions to show on the platform, or testing different experiences.
Simply:
- Navigate to any page on your Vepple site
- Add ?evt=1 to the end of the URL to force sessions on
- Example: https://demo.vepple.co.uk/explore/city-tour?evt=1
- Add ?evt=0 to hide all sessions
- Example: https://demo.vepple.co.uk/explore/day-in-the-life?evt=0
- Press Enter and the page will reload with the new visibility setting applied
Best Practices & Use Cases
- Combine with filters or audience parameters to test specific user journeys
FAQs & Troubleshooting
- Why aren't sessions appearing with evt=1?
- Sessions may still be hidden due to filters, scheduling, or assignment rules. This parameter only overrides the global "eventsEnabled" toggle.
- Can I use this with other query parameters?
- Yes. You can stack it with others like https://demo.vepple.co.uk/explore/city-tour?location=international&evt=1
Post-Event Adaptive Messaging (attended parameter)
If you have set up adaptive messaging in your event section (attended and non-attended messages), you need to use the attended query parameter in the links you send to students after the event. Without it, the platform will fall back to whichever default post-event view is configured in the CMS.
- Add ?attended=1 to the link sent to students who attended
- Example: https://demo.vepple.co.uk/events/open-day?attended=1
- Add ?attended=0 to the link sent to students who did not attend (no-shows)
- Example: https://demo.vepple.co.uk/events/open-day?attended=0
This means you will need two different links when sending your post-event communications: one for attendees and one for no-shows, each pointing to the same event section but with the appropriate parameter appended.
Note: The adaptive messaging blocks and the attended/non-attended messages are configured in the CMS under your event section settings. The query parameter simply tells the platform which version to display to each student.
FAQs
- What happens if I don't include the attended parameter?
- The platform falls back to the default post-event view set in the CMS (either attended or non-attended). To ensure students see the correct targeted message, always include the parameter in your post-event links.
- Can I combine attended with other parameters?
- Yes. For example: https://demo.vepple.co.uk/events/open-day?attended=1&evt=1
