In order to show Posts on the Content Grid or within the Explore by Map module, they need to be tagged to say who should see them. This article outlines how this is done.
Prerequisites
- Understanding Assignments and Filters
- How to use the layout builder
- Content grid block
- How to create a post
How to set it up
Navigate to your CMS:
- Go to Posts > Edit Post > Assignments Panel (on the right side of your screen)
- Here you will see a list of all the possible places you can assign a post to, these will include all existing sections and academia sections.
- Select any sections where you would like that post to appear.
- If you intend for the post to appear on its own, outside of a group, select “Yes” on the “Featured” toggle within the Post content panel. For posts within groups read the article understanding filtering within groups.
- Next find your filter panels (the names of these will be specific to your own experience) on the right hand side of the page. Choose the audiences you want to show this particular post to, in the example below we have chosen to show it to undergraduate students, studying Art & Design, from any location.
- Your post will now appear as an individual piece of content (given it’s Featured) within the Content Grid in the sections that you’ve assigned, for the given audience that you’ve defined with the filters.
FAQs & Troubleshooting
I’ve added assignments and filters but my content still isn’t showing on my Section/Academia page. What have I done wrong?
If your Post isn’t showing where you’d expect it to, there are a number of things to check:
- Posts should dynamically show in the Content Grid of assigned Sections/Academia pages:
- For Sections/Academia using the Page Builder, check that the page in question has a Content Grid present, if not, add one.
- For Sections/Academia using Guided Tours, check that the Content Drawer is enabled and that it contains a Content Grid.
- If the assigned page has a Content Grid but your Post still isn’t showing, make sure that you’ve toggled “Yes” on the “Featured” field of the Post itself.
- If you’re trying to make the Post appear in the Explore by Map section, make sure that you’ve toggled “Yes” on the “Feature post on map” field.
- If you’ve done all of the above and still don’t see your Post, please contact Support.
