How to set it up

Navigate to your CMS:

• Go to Events > Edit Event > Assignments Panel (on the right side of your screen)

• Here you will see a list of all the possible places you can assign a post to these will include all existing sections and academia sections.

• Select any sections that have existing relevant event blocks where you would like the event to appear.

• Next find your filter panels (the names of these will be specific to your own experience) on the right hand side of the page. Choose the audiences you want to show this particular event to, in the example below we have chosen to show it to all audiences.

• Your event will now appear as a card within the relevant events block on the page you assigned it to.

• Your events page will now also display all events that match the applied filters, since this is its own page it does not require assignments and so they are ignored in this instance.

What students see on the events page

Where personalisation is enabled and you have filters with something to choose between, the events listing carries a personalisation bar above the sessions, so students can tell whether they are looking at everything or at a filtered view.

• Before they personalise, it reads "You're seeing all Sessions. Personalise to tailor them to your subject." with a Personalise your experience button
• Once filters are applied, it names them: "You're currently seeing Sessions for Art and Design", with a Change your personalisation button

The button opens the same personalisation options as the rest of the site. A student changing their subject here changes it everywhere, not only on the events page.

The two button labels come from Site Options > Text Strings, as Personalise your experience and Change your personalisation. They are shared with the sidebar and menu, so editing one changes it in every place it appears. The bar's own sentences are not editable.

FAQs & Troubleshooting

I cannot see my event within the relevant event block

• Ensure that the events has been assigned to the correct page and the correct filters are matching your current front end
• Double check the relevant events block in your section builder to see if has a limit on the number of cards it can display
• Make sure that your relevant events block is showing the correct type of event e.g. On Demand / Scheduled.
• Make sure that your event has the correct start and end times.
• A student changed their subject from the events page and it changed the whole site. That is expected. The bar opens the site-wide personalisation options, so the change follows them into Explore and the map as well.
