With the latest update to Vepple, you now have greater control over how images are cropped within your posts. Previously, all images in Vepple posts defaulted to a 21:9 aspect ratio with a fixed free crop. However, with this update, you can now manually adjust the crop boundaries and choose from a selection of aspect ratios or define your own custom aspect ratio.
How to Set It Up
If your post was created before this update, it will still have the default 21:9 aspect ratio and the original free crop settings. However, you can now modify it by following these steps:
- Navigate to your Vepple CMS and locate the post you want to edit.
- Find the image you wish to adjust and when you hover over it, a Crop button will appear.
- Clicking the Crop Button will open the cropping interface, allowing you to manually move the crop borders to adjust the framing of the image. Once satisfied with your crop adjustments, click Crop to apply.
- If you wish to apply a specific aspect ratio, you can select from the predefined options such as:
-
-
-
- 21:9 (default)
- 16:9
- 4:3
- 5.5:2
- 3:4
- Alternatively, you can input a custom aspect ratio by selecting the empty field and entering your preferred dimensions.

-
- Finally, make sure to update the post to save your changes.
Best Practices & Use Cases
- Use Consistent Aspect Ratios: If you’re using multiple images within a post, keeping a consistent aspect ratio will provide a more uniform and visually appealing layout.
- Focus on Key Subjects: Adjust the crop so that the main subject remains centred and prominent in the image.
- Match Image Crops to Content Type
-
-
- 21:9 – Best for wide hero images or cinematic banners.
- 16:9 – Works well for standard media layouts.
- 4:3 – Ideal for portrait-oriented subjects.
- Custom Ratios – Tailor images to unique layouts as needed.
