The Accessible Mode Toggle is designed to give users more control over animations and visual content, enhancing accessibility for individuals with diverse needs. This feature, when activated, reduces distractions caused by automatically playing, moving, or blinking elements, ensuring a more inclusive experience.
Location of the Toggle
Desktop: The Accessible Mode toggle can be found in the sidebar.
Mobile: The toggle is located in the footer.
Key Features
When Accessible Mode is activated:
Background videos are automatically paused.
- Autoplay is disabled for panoramas and guided tours.
Pulse animations in content viewers are disabled.
Audio transcripts for video blocks and embedded videos are automatically expanded.
- Audio described videos are automatically enabled.
Accessibility controls in guided tours are expanded to ensure smoother navigation.
Your preference is saved and remembered across sessions.
Automatic Detection
Accessible Mode is automatically turned on if you have reduced motion enabled in your browser or operating system settings.
URL Query Parameter for Accessible Mode
In addition to the toggle, accessible mode can be enabled automatically by appending a query parameter to your URL when you want to deep link your students.
Simply add ?acc=1 to your URL when sharing it with users who may require additional accessibility features.
For example, if your website URL is demo.vepple.co.uk, you can share it as demo.vepple.co.uk?acc=1, and Accessible Mode will be turned on by default.
You can also use ?acc=0 to explicitly disable Accessible Mode.
The Accessible Mode toggle and the query parameter acc=1 are valuable tools to improve accessibility for all users. By offering more control over animations and visual elements, we aim to create a more comfortable and user-friendly environment for everyone.
