Overview
Vepple’s Events lets you easily add, configure and manage events within your platform. Whether you're promoting a live webinar, an on-demand session or an in-person open day, the flexible setup allows for full control over how and where events appear in your Vepple. You can embed third-party chats, include presenter profiles, add maps, and control visibility through filters

Creating and Editing an Event
Title
- Title input: Enter the exact title you want shown on the frontend. This will display on the event listing page, the event card heading, and the event page itself. Use correct spelling and capitalisation.
- Display title: Replaces the main title on the event card and event page. Useful if you want to shorten or change how the title is presented to users.
Event Type
- Type: Choose the event type using the radio buttons: On Demand or Scheduled.
- Scheduled toggle: These events happen at a specific date and time. You can choose:
- On Location (adds address field)
- Can the event be embedded
- On Demand toggle: These events can be watched at any time during a set availability period. The On Location toggle is not available for On Demand events.
On Location
- Tick this if the event takes place in a physical venue. This will reveal an Address input.
Embedding the Event
- Tick Can the event be embedded to show additional embed settings:
- Event embed source: Enter the URL of the page to embed. Preferably, if you have an embed script starting “<iframe…” please use the value found after “src=”
- Separate Q&A toggle: Choose whether to run a Q&A alongside your event.
- If Yes, you’ll see:
- Q&A Platform: Choose from Slido, Chatify, or Other.
- If Slido: Enter the iframe src in the Slido src field.
- If Chatify:
- Chatify HTML: Paste in the full HTML snippet from Chatify admin.
- Chatify JS: Paste in the script source (from the src="").
- If Other:
- Custom HTML: Paste in your custom Q&A HTML.
- Custom JS: Paste in the JavaScript source only.
- Q&A and Embed Width: Choose the column layout for the Q&A display.
- Q&A Threshold: Set the number of minutes before the event start time when the chat should become visible. Leaving this field blank means the chat will be available at all times.
- Q&A Platform: Choose from Slido, Chatify, or Other.
- If Yes, you’ll see:
- If No to embedding, you’ll see:
- Join event link: Add the URL for an external platform like Zoom or Teams.
- Join event link: Add the URL for an external platform like Zoom or Teams.
Date and Time
- Only relevant for Scheduled events.
- Controls when “Happening Soon” and “Live” labels appear.
- Once the event has ended, it will disappear from the frontend but remain in the CMS.
- Event start: Select date and time the event begins.
- Event end: Select when the event ends.
Priority
- If enabled in Event Settings, events are ranked by priority (1 = highest, 100 = default lowest).
Launch Event Button
- Customise the button text that appears on the event interface. This overrides the default from Event Settings.
Short Description
- Shown on the event card in the listing.
Full Description
- Shown on the event page itself.
Additional Links
- Add up to three relevant links. These appear on the event page below the description.
Presenter Info
- Add presenter names and images. Click Add row for each.
- If no image is uploaded, initials will be shown instead.
- Presenters appear below the event description.
Address
- Shown only if On Location is selected. Appears in the context bar on the event page.
Featured Image
- Select an image for the event. This displays on the event card and event page.
Location Settings
- To add a map with the same map engine as the Explore by Map feature, enter in a Map Location.
- If you want this event to feature within the Explore by Map feature, tick the “Feature post on map” toggle.

If the feature post on map option is not toggled on, the the mini-map will only work as a context map i.e. giving context as to where the event is. However, they will not be able to get directions to the event.
If it is toggled on, the get directions button will appear on the event and the event will also be featured on the map.
Who & Where
Filters
- Choose who should see the event, e.g. by study level or subject area.
Assignment
- Tick the box for the relevant section of your Vepple to control where the event appears. If the section has a Relevant Events block, the event will display there.
Removing an Event
- Go to All Events, hover over the event title and click Bin.
- Or open the event and click Move to bin in the right-hand column.
Bulk editing Events
- Go to All Events, select the posts to alter, then click on the ‘bulk edit’ above the field you want to bulk edit
Testing Scheduled Events
To preview a scheduled event as live:
- Go to your events page.
- Press Ctrl + Alt + Shift + L on your keyboard.
- This will simulate a live state for your browser only.
- Select the event that you are trying to test or force live.
- You’ll know it’s active when LIVE EVENTS appears in the bottom-right corner.
- This shortcut will not work if you try to do it while already in the event, make sure you do this on the event page as opposed to the individual event.
Best Practices & Use Cases
- Creating a scheduled event with live Q&A using Slido or Chatify
- Showcasing an in-person event with map location and directions
- Embedding Zoom or Teams links for quick external access
- Promoting specific events by assigning them to sections with “Relevant Events” blocks
